Super Sam set to break cycling World Record (again)!

Whilst most teachers start back at work this week and are perhaps longing for a quiet weekend after the Christmas break, one maths teacher from Skipton has other ideas in mind.

But then again, Sam Boatwright is no ordinary teacher and is used to starting the new year with ambitious fitness resolutions. Beginning at 6am on Saturday 7th January, Sam is set to break his own previous world record of 488 miles by cycling 500 miles in a 24 hour period and is urging amateur and professional cyclists wanting to cut a few calories to join him.

The feat will take place at Harrogate's Cold Bath Brewery Clubhouse on a fixed position Wattbike to officially record the distance.

In a partnership with Chevin Cycles (www.ChevinCycles.com) who will be providing Sam's bikes, Brown Bag Protein (www.BrownBagProtein.com), an ethically sourced protein supplier and the launch of Cold Bath Brewery's new alcohol free beer '1571', Sam plans to demonstrate that extraordinary achievements are possible by ordinary people. Sam is a full time maths teacher but works as a personal trainer part time and has achieved a series of phenomenal endurance feats in recent years

As a former soldier, Sam is always keen to devote his achievements to his former colleagues that serve in the armed forces and for those that can no longer participate in such physical activities. In 2012, he ran 50 miles everyday for 50 days around the UK to raise money for Help for Heroes and in 2017 completed a journey across America running 50 miles one day and cycling 150 the next, from New York to LA.

He last set the Wattbike World record of 488 miles during the 2019 UCI Cycling Championships and has since in completed an Epic Triathlon, swimming the channel and cycling & running all over the UK.

For anyone wishing to join Sam on the Wattbike or simply to wish him well over the weekend they are welcome to join him at the Cold Bath Clubhouse, 46 King's Rd, Harrogate from 8am on Saturday 7th January all the way until Sunday evening or they follow him on social media @sam_boatwrigtht1
